Yelp.com. Another Alexa top 100 that doesn’t use Captcha

I landed on the Alexa top 100 for the United States this morning, and settled on a site called Yelp.com.  What a neat site!

I guess I’ll get the Captcha stuff out of the way.  Yelp is kind enough to provide a fully accessible registration.  They just send you a confirmation email and once you open the link, your account is active.

Yelp is a local review site for things like eateries, shopping, services, coffee shops, nail salons, hair salons, nightlife activities, lodging, and so much more.  Users are invited to write reviews and rate local businesses.

Another really exciting aspect to Yelp is the mobile edition.  The link is mobie.yelp.com .   For comparison, I did a search on the conventional website, then did the same search on the mobile site.  The search results were the same, so the database works well.  Another neat thing is that the mobile version does not show any advertising.  So the browsing experience is clean and concise.

This would be a great resource for people who use LevelStar Icons or APH Braille Plus PDA’s.

Again, here is an example of a top 100 site that does not need Captchas to secure the registration process.  I’m glad to see this and hope that people find this resource helpful and easy to use.  Hats off to the Yelp Team!
