reCaptcha Training
Solona offers a game-like training tool in order to be better prepared when you need to solve a reCAPTCHA Captcha audio alternative.
This tool allows you to practice solving Captchas with the audio alternative without having to fill out any forms or information. This saves you time and allows you to practice without any barriers.
You can keep track of how many you solved correctly and how many you missed.
The intent is that you will be better equipped to independently solve reCAPTCHA Captchas when you encounter them.
The more you practice, the better you will understand the controls on the tool.
There are no special instructions. You don’t have to register in order to use the reCAPTCHA training tool. Feel free to use the tool as many times as you like.
Here are some points to consider about any reCAPTCHA tool that you encounter on the web:
1. most sites that use reCAPTCHA have an audio alternative. A good example of this is the Twitter Signup Page.
2. the visual verification is different from the audio challenge. The visual verification shows the user two words. The user must type these two words in the solution field. The audio challenge plays an entire phrase, NOT just two words! The user must listen to the phrase and type as many words in the solution field as possible that were played in the audio phrase. The audio challenge could be upwards of 10 words.
3. if a user cannot understand the words spoken in the audio challenge, then she can refresh the audio challenge so that a new challenge phrase is played. The audio challenge can be refreshed as many times as necessary. Keep in mind that each audio challenge is different. Some will sound better than others. I suggest refreshing until you hear one that you can reliably enter.
4. Even though it seems like the Captcha solution only requires two words, that is the case only for the visual captcha. The audio challenge solution should be the entire spoken phrase. The instructions can seem conflicting. But the correct way to solve a Captcha by using the audio challenge is to enter as much of the phrase as you can in the solution field.
5. Even though every audio challenge is spoken in English, many audio challenges features non-American spoken English. The speaker typically sounds European (British). Also, the source of the spoken phrase is typically an old movie or radio show.
6. Some phrases are easier to understand than others. That is why you want to take advantage of the ability to refresh when necessary.
7. Users do not need to worry about upper/lower case. Users do not need to worry about punctuation.
8. Most audio challenges are one phrase. Users should never hear several phrases. If this happens, use the refresh option.
9. The audio challenge is never distorted with external sounds. However, users might detect a slight noise such as a passing car or a horn if that was part of the movie or radio show.
