Solona RAIVE FAQ’s

What is RAIVE? It is a tool that allows you to upload any visual element and a corresponding question, which is answered and delivered to your email address.

What does RAIVE mean? It stands for: Remotely Analyzing (and) Interpreting Visual Elements.

Do I need to register in order to use the system? Yes. Registration is easy and fast. You can use your Solona user credentials to use RAIVE at any time.

What is a Package? It is the term we use to describe what is uploaded to RAIVE – an image or binary file and a question that needs to be answered. We call that a “Package”.

Does an Operator have to be ‘Online’ in order for me to submit a Package? No. You can submit a Package at anytime. It will be retrieved and processed as soon as possible.

What type of image can I upload? You can upload any kind of image or binary file that has information that you need extracted. PDF, DOC, JPG, PNG, BMP. Any format is accepted.

How long does it take to get an answer to my question? It can be as fast as five minutes. It can also be a few hours. It depends entirely on what time you submit the Package, and when an Operator can process it. The non-English Packages can take a few more hours. Solona strives to process all Packages as quickly as possible.

Can I use a Mac? Can I use Safari? Yes. In fact, you can use any computer environment.

Is there any charge for using RAIVE? No, it is completely free, just like all other Solona tools and services.

Who solves my Package? All Packages are solved by volunteer operators.

What happens to my Package after it is processed? All images and questions are deleted from the server immediately. Solona does not retain any information related to the transaction other than time stamp information.

What languages are supported on RAIVE? You can submit images and questions in: English, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, French, German, and Hebrew. A native speaker will process your Package and return text in the appropriate language.

How do I know my privacy is guarded when I send an image? Read more about security on our about page. Also we are bound by a published Privacy Policy.

Do I need to install a plug-in or any software to use RAIVE? Not necessarily. You may elect to use the Solona Automated Capture Tool, but it may not be necessary if you can extract the image and save it for uploading later.

I’m having trouble installing the Automated Tool on Windows Vista and Windows 7. You must right click on the executable and select ‘Run as Administrator’. The program will not install otherwise.
